Dog Grooming Supplies
Unless you are a professional groomer, you don't need a lot of dog grooming supplies.
The basic tools for grooming your dog are: Slicker Brush Pin Brush Undercoat Rake Mat Comb Graduated Tooth Comb Scissors Dog Toenail Clippers Styptic powder or pencil (just in case you bleed a toenail) Shampoo Conditioner Towels Dog Toothpaste and Brush (regular or finger) Dog Bath Wipes (freshen up between baths) Dog Ear Wipes
You can purchase these from any pet store.
When you have all your supplies, designate an area just for your dog's "stuff". This way it will be right at hand when you need it. We have a small cabinet in the kitchen with just our kid's grooming supplies, medicines, leashes, bowls, etc.
You may not have to use all of these tools for your dog. Some owners with long, double coated dog breeds will, short haired dog owners will only need a few brushes and combs. However, you will need the rest of the list for a complete grooming of your dog.
As stated previously, if you have a dog who needs professional grooming, don't try to do it yourself. You may want to take your dog to the groomer for special occasions, such as the holidays, if you don't have time to take care of him yourself. We send our kids twice a year to have them pampered and ready to greet guests, especially at Christmas.
