Puppy Supplies

puppy supplies toys

Puppy supplies are essential before you bring your little guy home. He needs to have his space and "stuff" ready for him with his new family.

Decide where he will sleep, eat, go to the bathroom. Which rooms will he have access to?

You will need:

a crate

food and water bowls

toys and chews

papers or piddle pads

food

treats

brushes and combs

collar or harness

leash

baby gate

dog bed

fenced yard or containment system

puppy supplies bed When purchasing a bed for your pup, make sure it is proportionate with his size when he is an adult. A tiny bed for a Lab pup will be too small when he is full grown.

Our Collie mix, Lady likes to squeeze herself into our Sheltie's small bed and take naps, even though she has her own large orthopedic bed.

You should have everything you need ready before your puppy comes home.

Use the list above and you should not have any problems making your pup feel welcome.

If your puppy will be an outdoor dog, then you will need a sturdy, insulated dog house protected from the elements. I do not recommend dogs being left outdoors.

A family dog is just that, living with the family. All our kids have been house dogs and I think you will be happy with that situation as well.

If you have a home, then a fenced yard is a must. This is where the puppy will exercise, go potty and lay about.

Go out with the pup to supervise his activities. This is also good play time.

Well, there you have it. All the basic essentials you need before your puppy comes home.

Obtaining everything for your puppy beforehand will make your new addition to the family feel right at home.
